Back 4 Blood Available October 12 With NVIDIA DLSS

Back 4 Blood is a cooperative first-person shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead. You and your team of three ‘Cleaner’ friends are at the center of a war against the Ridden. These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring what remains of civilization. With humanity's extinction on the line, it's up to you and your friends to take the fight to the enemy, eradicate the Ridden, and reclaim the world in a series of co-op campaign levels featuring randomized elements, a unique loadout system, and 8 different characters with their own perks and stats.

Team-up online with drop-in and drop-out four-player co-op to fight the ever-evolving Ridden threat together, or play the campaign solo with three A.I. teammates. Alternatively, gamers can also become a Cleaner or switch sides and play as the Ridden with friends in the online PvP Swarm mode, which supports up to eight players.

Ahead of the game’s release, you can participate in the Back 4 Blood Open Beta. Beginning August 5th, those who pre-order will be guaranteed Early Access to the Open Beta, which concludes August 9th, and a limited number of people who register on the Back 4 Blood website will also be invited to participate. If you miss out, however, don’t despair - the Open Beta will continue August 12th to 16th, and will be available to everyone.

What is Nvidia DLSS in games? ›

What Does DLSS Do? DLSS is a form of machine learning that uses an AI model to analyze in-game frames and construct new ones—either at higher resolution or in addition to the existing frames. It uses Supersampling to sample a frame at a lower resolution, then uses that sample to construct a higher resolution frame.

Does Nvidia DLSS decrease FPS? ›

DLSS can boost your frame rates but at the cost of some fine detail. The effect becomes more noticeable as the starting resolution is lowered.

How do I unlock Nvidia DLSS? ›

How to enable Nvidia DLSS in a video game
  1. First, launch a game that supports DLSS.
  2. Open the Settings menu and go to the Graphics tab.

Is DLSS only for 4K? ›

If you select 4K resolution and choose DLSS Quality mode, the game will render at 1440p resolution. DLSS upscales the result to 4K. 1440p resolution requires less GPU grunt to render, so the game's framerate improves. However, it's important to understand that DLSS uses neural rendering to upscale the image.

Is DLSS only for RTX 40? ›

All Nvidia cards branded with RTX support DLSS, but to varying degrees. At the time of writing, only RTX 40 GPUs on the Ada Lovelace architecture, like the RTX 4090, support DLSS 3's frame generation technology, even though all RTX GPUs have AI hardware.

What are the downsides of DLSS? ›

What are the downsides of DLSS? DLSS 1.0 produced a smooth but rather blurry image with a weird "artsy" look, kind of like the artifacts you'd see in AI upscaled images. It also started out with a lot of limitations, such as requiring a specific resolution and a specific GPU to use.

Is DLSS actually AI? ›

DLSS Ray Reconstruction

Enhances image quality for all GeForce RTX GPUs by using AI to generate additional pixels for intensive ray-traced scenes. DLSS replaces hand-tuned denoisers with an NVIDIA supercomputer-trained AI network that generates higher-quality pixels in between sampled rays.

What is the main idea behind DLSS? ›

NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a neural graphics technology that multiplies performance using AI to create entirely new frames, display higher resolution through image reconstruction, and improve the image quality of intensive ray-traced content—all while delivering best-in-class image quality and ...

Does DLSS use CPU more? ›

If this is correct, you should be able to test for this by carefully comparing screenshots looking at objects in the distance, and it probably is the same for TAA with render scaling as well. DLSS reduces load on the gpu and therefore puts more onus on the cpu.

Does DLSS increase FPS at 1440p? ›

In a word, absolutely. With NVIDIA DLSS, gamers aren't tethered to native 4K hoping to achieve 50-60 fps. They can render at resolutions like 1080p or 1440p and let DLSS reconstruct the visual data.

Why is DLSS better than FSR? ›

Quality and performance:

Nvidia DLSS has proven to be a leader in image quality and performance optimization in many cases. It can render games at a higher resolution on lower settings, while FSR tends to offer slightly lower image quality but is more widely available.

Do all Nvidia cards support DLSS? ›

With the exception of the shader-core version implemented in Control, DLSS is only available on GeForce RTX 20, GeForce RTX 30, GeForce RTX 40, and Quadro RTX series of video cards, using dedicated AI accelerators called Tensor Cores.

Can you add DLSS to any game? ›

DLSS swapper allows you to switch between versions of DLSS, but not to add DLSS to games that don't support it. There's no guarantee that doing this will improve either image quality or performance, or indeed even work, but that's the joy of PC gaming.

Why is DLSS disabled? ›

Can confirm borderless window does not work. However, you can manually fix the DLSS issue even with the (Game Pass or Steam version) by downloading the DLSS 3.7 file and putting it in the correct directory. Then when you start the game you should have the option to turn DLSS on again.
