Arsenal transfer news live with Viktor Tsygankov 'approach', Joao Neves £51m bid (2024)

Arsenal will be looking to make minor changes to their squad this summer as they attempt to end Manchester City's Premier League dominance.

The Gunners have already been linked with several big names but, for now, it remains to be seen whether or not Edu will sanction another spending spree with Benjamin Sesko being heavily linked with a move to the Emirates. Last year, Arsenal spent over £200million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.

They made plenty of sales too, though, so perhaps Mikel Arteta will plot another clear-out – Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson, in particular, face uncertain futures in north London. Whatever happens this summer, Arsenal won't want any progress going to waste with the Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea all expected to wheel out the war chests.

The Gunners took the Premier League title race down to the final day, so next term they'll be looking to finally get their hands on some silverware.

With that being said, stay with us at football.london as we bring you all the latest news and transfer gossip LIVE!

Sesko transfer latest

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Benjamin Sesko. He explains how United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all being considered by the 21-year-old.

“Now, Sesko has to decide whether he wants to stay at Leipizg and extend his contract or leave and probably go to the Premier League. So, first step has to be this one. Then, which clubs? They all remian in the race, nothing has been decided yet, I can guarantee about that," Romano said in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Sesko is still taking his time to decide between Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. These three clubs are in the race, everything is still open, Sesko has not accepted anything yet. He has all the projects in front of him, so it’s up to Benjamin Sesko basically to decide what he wants to do.”

'Arsenal ahead of United for Sesko'

The Athletic's David Ornstein has revealed that there is a feeling Arsenal are ahead of Manchester United for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

“He’s a high performer, and he was attracting interest when he was at Salzburg,” he said via tbrfootball.

“We come to the modern day and I’ve spoken before about how highly Arsenal think of him. He’s pretty much top or very prominent on their list of candidates.

“Things aren’t actually happening with him just yet, there are lots of conversations, his agent has been very active on social media.

“Manchester United, it’s more complicated there because of the managerial situation, financial situation, football situation the feeling is that a club like Arsenal are perhaps ahead of them at this time because they’re very settled, very competitive and it’s a good time to be involved at Arsenal.”

Rangers are interested in former Arsenal star Reuell Walters, according to our colleagues at the Daily Record.

The 19-year-old defender would be available cross-border for around £350,000 in compensation. He has admirers on the Ibrox coaching staff but they are looking to prioritise funds for other positions in Philippe Clement’s squad.

Rangers will keep a watching brief on Walters but are unlikely to move unless they move on a right-back. Walters has a string of interest in both the English Premier League, Championship and in Europe.

Toney backed over Watkins

Darren Bent has backed Arsenal to sign Ivan Toney over Ollie Watkins this summer.

"I am probably going to go Toney. It’s the way we play. I think link-up play, I think Toney is slightly ahead," he said on talkSPORT.

"But movement and pace, Watkins has got it. I think finishing as well. It’s a flip of a coin. Out of the two, I would say Watkins is more deserving of going because of the goals and the season he has had. But Toney against Belgium was very, very impressive.”

Gunners legend Thierry Henry is taking charge of the team for the games, meaning that he could potentially put in a good word for the club to Olise. He’s not the only Arsenal connection who the player will be spending a lot of time with.

Emi Martinez opens up on Arsenal exit

Emiliano Martinez has opened up about his tough departure from Arsenal, detailing how former boss Unai Emery played a pivotal role in his exit.

The Argentine shot-stopper, who lifted the World Cup trophy, joined Ben Foster on the 'Fozcast' to delve into his journey and the moment he knew his time at Arsenal was up under Emery's management.

Martinez recounted: "So Arsene Wenger, the legend, was standing in front of you, you're going to be my number one [but] he was signing me, contract and money wise, like a number two and I was number three."

"[Emery said] 'Emi look, I give you this because I'm thinking you're going to be my number one'. When he left, I was 23, 24 and then I went on loan to Getafe where I didn't play and then Unai Emery came in and was like sorry mate but you played for Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, you know, teams that he didn't even know."

Arteta delivers Arsenal transfer update

Mikel Arteta has delved into Arsenal's transfer plans for the upcoming summer window.

Speaking to CNN, he said: “[We] look again. All the margins, squad-wise, the process that we have at the football club, our methodology, especially on how we can make our players better, more competitive, more consistent and cause them to raise the level and be better than the previous season.

“I think our focus has to be with what we have already in house. ‘How can we be better? There are margins and there are players that can still develop and be better and that’s the objective that we have.”

Chiesa transfer twist

Juventus winger Federico Chiesa could be on the move this summer according to reports from Sky Sports Italy.

The 26-year-old, also linked to Liverpool and Chelsea, is said to have been informed he has not part of Thiago Motta's plans, who is expected to be appointed Juventus head coach soon.

As such, a departure this summer looks likely, especially with just one year remaining on his contract, and he thus could be a great option for the Gunners considering their need to provide cover for Bukayo Saka.

Transfer audition hope for dream Rice partner

Mikel Arteta and Edu will be desperately hoping Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton heads to this summer's European championships.

For the final 28 minutes of the friendly victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Wharton showed exactly why he has become the talk of the town. During his first six months at Selhurst Park, the 20-year-old has been immense and his cameo from the bench may have done wonders for his chances of being named in Gareth Southgate's 26-man squad.

Jude Bellingham and Rice have already nailed down two midfield spots but exactly who takes the other one is unknown. Out of Conor Gallagher, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kobbie Mainoo and Wharton, Arteta will definitely be hoping it is the latter in order to get a closer look at how he functions alongside Rice.
